Avery Williamson has enjoyed a football career many would love to have.  But sometimes the itch to be around the game of football never goes away. After a year away, Williamson is back around the game he loves, and returning to his West Tennessee roots but this time in a new role: as Linebackers Coach at Jackson Christian School.

Williamson dominated the High School ranks at Milan, helping the Bulldogs to consecutive State Runner-Up finishes in 2008 and 2009. A 3-star recruit, he then went on to a stellar career at the University of Kentucky, finishing as a 2nd Team All-SEC selection in 2013. Drafted by his home state’s Tennessee Titans in 2014, Williamson enjoyed a seven year pro career that included other stops with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, and Denver Broncos, before retiring in 2021.

Now at age 31, Williamson turns his attention to being a coach and giving back to the game he has spent much of his life involved in. Williamson is no stranger to giving back to the game, as he has hosted events and camps at Milan’s Johnnie Hale Stadium in past years, but now he takes the next step as part of Coach Darby Palmer’s staff in Jackson.
