Both Union City High School golf teams were Opening Day winners in their respective 2023 matches Tuesday.
The Tornado boys bested Gibson County, Madison Academic, and Peabody, while the UC girls edged MA by four strokes, with GC coming in third, another four shots back.
Reese Paschall shot 44 to pace the Union City boys, who came in with a team total of 182. Brody Riley fired a 45, Gavin McGuire shot 46, and Copeland Chism came in with a 47.
Gibson County finished with a 188, Madison scored 204, and Peabody totaled 212.
Mimi Jenkins’ 43 led the UC girls, who ended up with a 92. Adeline Rice came in with a 49 for the Lady Twisters.
Madison’s runner-up total was 96, while GC posted a score of 100.
Union City is scheduled to host Obion County Central Thursday at Poplar Meadows Country Club.
