Union City dropped a hard-fought 3-1 decision to host Hickman County in high school volleyball Tuesday.
The Lady Tornadoes won Game 3, 25-23, after narrowing losing 28-26 and 27-25 in the first two games. HC closed out the match with a 25-16 victory in Game 4.
Addison Carr had six service aces and four kills to pace UC. Gracelyn Sims recorded five aces, and Debrionna Jones was credited with five kills.
Madie Theobald was good for three aces and a trio of kills.
Union City also came up just short in the jayvee match, falling 21-17 and 21-15.
Ca’Lae Ervin had three aces and two kills, while Rylee Stone registered three kills.
Now 1-2 on the young season, UC will open the home portion of its season Thursday against Gibson County.
