JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women’s soccer team announced its signing class for the 2023 season. Amanda Carr (Smyrna, Tenn.), Rebekah Jackson (McMinnville, Tenn.), Amelia Goehring (Jackson, Tenn.), Lucia Revuelto (Madrid, Spain), Ashley Macedo (Maricopa, Ariz.), Bethany Guinness (Nashville, Tenn.), Avery Caldwell (Little Rock, Ark.), Brooklyn Robbins (Memphis, Tenn.), Irene Arias (Barruelo de Santullan), Tessa Erzen (Des Moines, Iowa), and Fara Perez (Ourense, Spain) will join Union this fall.
Carr, a 5-foot-7 freshman midfielder and forward, prepped at Stuarts Creek High School in Smyrna, Tenn Carr where she played four years of soccer. Her team won 2022 District 8AAA Champions, 2020 Region 4AAA Champions, 2020 District 7AAA Champions, and 2019 Region 4AAA Champions. She received 2022 DNJ All-Area 2nd Team, 2022 District 8AAA 1st Team All-District, and the 2022 Lady Redhawk Award For Leadership and Character and was 2022 captain of her high school. She also played nine years of travel soccer and was the 2022 captain of her club team.
Jackson, a 5-foot-4 freshman defender, midfielder, and forward, prepped at Warren County High School where she played four years of soccer. She also played three years of travel soccer at TSC.
Goehring, a 5-foot-8 freshman midfielder and forward, prepped at Trinity Christian Academy where she earned the Top Assist Award and Multi-Sport Athlete Award. She competed for four years at TCA on the track team, basketball team, and soccer team where she earned an THSSCA All-State Team selection. Outside of her high school athletic programs, she won two state championships with her club soccer team (Jackson Futbol Club).
Revuelto, a 5-foot-3 freshman forward, has played 12 years of soccer and prepped at Santa María de la Hispanidad.
Macedo, a 5-foot-7 freshman midfielder, played four years of varsity girls’ soccer at Maricopa High School in Mariscopa, Ariz. She also played five years at FC Arizona and two years at RSL.
Guinness, a 5-foot-8 freshman defender, played four years of soccer and one year of basketball at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tenn. She also competed in three years of club soccer and four years of club basketball.
Caldwell, a 5-foot-7 freshman midfielder and defender, played four years of soccer at Joe T. Robinson High School and competed in four years of cross country and track. She played nine years of club soccer for Arkansas Rising. She was a USYS Arkansas State Champion in 2018, 2022, and 2023, and her high school team was a 4A State Finalist in 2023. In high school soccer, Caldwell was named All-State for 2021-2023, All-State Tournament for 2023, and All-Conference for 2021-2023. She was also a three-year captain and accumulated 41 career goals and 48 career assists. In cross country, she got All-Conference for 2019-2021. In track, she was named All-Conference for 2021-2022.
Robbins, a 5-foot-5 freshman forward and midfielder, played ten years of soccer, including four years at Faith Heritage Christian Academy. Her club team won the 2021 D1 State Championship and were Dallas International Girls Cup Champions. For her club team, she was named Mid-South Conference Best XI.
Arias, a 5-foot-5 freshman midfielder, played nine years of soccer and six years of indoor soccer. She also played four years of other athletics. Arias helped lead her team to the national championship in Spain.
Erzen, a 5-foot-5 freshman defender, prepped at Des Moines Christian High School where she played four years of soccer, four years of cross country, and two years of track. Erzen is a First Team All-Conference (3x), Defender of the Year (3x), All-District, All-State, and All-Tournament Team player. She was also named the Team Captain of her high school women’s soccer team. In cross country and track, she was named Newcomer of the Year, All-Conference (Cross Country), and All-State (Track). Erzen holds the record for most assists in a game (7) and the record for best 4×8 (9:41). In club soccer, Erzen won the state championship three years in a row.
Perez, 5-foot-9 freshman midfielder and middle forward, competed in soccer (nine years), futsol (twelve years), and basketball (eight years). Perez won the Galician league championship and the council cup in Galicia. She also was awarded most valuable player in basketball.
