LEXINGTON, Ky.- The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team battled but ultimately fell to Kentucky 4-0 at Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.

Skyhawk goalkeeper Poppy Bastock matched a season high for saves in the first half with four stops on five shots on goal. Allie Buchmann put a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes while Izzy Patterson added a shot in the second half.

UT Martin and Kentucky were in a tough battle at the break with the Wildcats leading the Skyhawks by just one goal.

The second half saw the scoring start with Taya Hjorth finding the net in the 56th minute. Then two goals in six minutes helped Kentucky pull away. Mia Bookhard scored in the 72nd minute with the assist going to Maria Castaldo. Following Bookhard was Katelyn Fishnick, who scored with a strike from just inside the penalty box during the 78th minute.

For the third straight match, UT Martin saw its trio of Shayla Addington, Gwen Walters and Catey Hunt go from first touch to final whistle.

UT Martin returns home to host Murray State this upcoming Sunday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
