Debrionna Jones had eight kills and five blocks, and Addison Carr recorded 11 assists to help Union City volleyball sweep South Fulton 3-0 Tuesday evening.
The 25-18, 25-15, 25-14 triumph broke a six-match losing skid for the Lady Tornadoes, who are now 2-6.
Madie Theobald also had 11 assists, while Sadie Crawford was credited with eight kills for the victors. Gracelyn Sims had five kills, and Carr finished with four.
Brianna McBride served up four aces and had four kills.
The UC junior varsity team also was victorious, taking the second two games of their match to beat SF 2-1.
The Twister girls won 25-21 and 15-12 after dropping the opener 25-23.
Crickett Washburn continued to show promise with 11 assists, six kills, and five aces. Allyssia Davis recorded five kills, and Ca’Lae Ervin had four.
Union City will be at home again Thursday, looking for a season sweep of Lake County.
HIGH SCHOOL GOLF
The Union City girls’ team placed fifth among eight squads in the 18-hole Patriot Classic at Paris Landing Tuesday.
UC finished with a team total of 188 to beat TCA, host Henry County, and Dickson County. Clarksville (155) took first place in the event.
Mimi Jenkins shot 90, and Addi Rice carded a 98 for the Lady Tornadoes.
The UC boys finished with a 371 among ten boys’ teams. Clarksville was the meet champion at 300.
Reese Paschall and Gavin McGuire each shot 88 for the Twisters. Brody Riley came in with a 97, and Copeland Chism had a 98.
Union City’s next match is Monday at the Weakley County Country Club.
