NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Addy Vaughn accumulated a triple-double for the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball squad but the Skyhawks narrowly dropped a 3-2 decision (11-25, 25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 9-15) at Lipscomb this evening.

Vaughn reached her milestone during the fourth set, ending her night with a team-high 11 kills on a .318 hitting percentage, 18 assists and a career-best 14 digs. The 6-0 setter/opposite side hitter from St. Henry, Ohio became just the second UT Martin player to record a triple-double in the last 12 years – joining Karen Scanlon (15 kills, 11 digs, 11 blocks against Murray State on Oct. 8, 2021).

Vaughn was one of three Skyhawks to reach double-digits in the kill column tonight as she was also joined by Jenna Vallée (11 kills) and Olivia Saunders (10 kills on a .381 attack percentage). Paulino earned her third straight double-double with 21 assists and 11 digs for UT Martin (2-5).

For the fourth time this season, Dylan Mott was responsible for a team lead in digs as the junior out of Hendersonville, Tenn. scooped up 20 digs. Kayla Carrell (12 digs) was the fourth Skyhawk to amass double figures in digs while Saunders enforced the net with a match-high five blocks in a match that featured 32 tie scores and 16 lead changes.

Meeting for the first time since 2008, the in-state rivals traded blows back-and-forth throughout the night. During the winner-take-all fifth set, UT Martin gained the upper hand early with a 3-1 advantage. The Bisons went on a 7-2 run before a Saunders kill halted Lipscomb’s momentum. Vallée added two more kills from that point forward but the Bisons wrapped up the match with seven of the final 10 points.

The Skyhawks close out a brief appearance in the Lippy Invitational with a 6 p.m. tilt tomorrow against Kansas State.
