The Union City girls shot 90, and the Tornado boys carded a 178 in their final regular season home golf match of the season Tuesday.
The Lady Tornadoes had no competition but used the outing to prepare for the upcoming district tournament on Sept. 25. Addy Rice posted a 44, and Mimi Jenkins came in with a 46.
UC’s boys came up short vs. Westview by 18 strokes.
Gavin McGuire had a good day, coming in with a 40 to top the Twisters’ scorecard. Reese Paschall shot 42, Brody Riley finished with a 45, and Copeland Chism fired a 51.
Luke Stephenson was the match medalist with a 38.
Union City will close out its regular season on Monday with a match vs. Trinity Christian Academy at Humboldt.
HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY
The Union City trio of Bailey Wagoner, Briley McKinney, and Woodrow McKinnis finished in the Top 20 of the Huntingdon Invitational to earn individual medals on Tuesday.
Wagoner (23:49) was 16th, and McKinney (23:49) was 17th among 127 runners for the Lady Tornadoes. McKinnis (19:23) came in 17th among a field of 170 boys.
There were 25 teams to participate.
Other times for UC runners included Cory Gentry (22:17), Tabor Hall (27:06), and Cutler Hall (29:16). Rori Howell was clocked at 32:41 for the Twister girls.
Union City’s next competition is at Covington on Sept. 21.
HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL
Obion Co. 3, UC 0
The Lady Tornadoes saw their record dip to 3-8 with a road loss to OC.
Central won 25-16, 25-18, and 25-17.
Debrionna Jones had four blocks and four kills for UC. Breyonna Billups recorded three service aces, Gracelyn Sims was good for three blocks, and Clare Atwill had a pair of aces.
The Lady Rebels also prevailed in the junior varsity match, winning 25-11 and 25-20.
Ca’Lae Ervin had two kills and two aces, and Alyssia Davis posted three kills.
UC plays at Gibson County on Thursday.
