JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men’s soccer team lost 2-0 to Auburn University Montgomery in the Gulf South Conference opener. Union dropped to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1 in league play. Auburn Montgomery improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the GSC.
AUM scored its first goal in the second minute of the match on a goal form Andrew Strait. Charlie Elliott scored the Warhawks’ second goal in the 52nd minute, assisted by Logan Roach.
The Bulldogs led in shots 11-10 and in corner kicks 4-2, while AUM led in saves 5-3. Each team had five shots on goal and seven fouls.
Ostian Bowen had five of Union’s 11 shots, two of which were on goal. Both of Alexander Lapkalo’s shots were on goal, and Jamie Chamberlain’s one shot was also on goal. Botond Nemeth played all 90 minutes in goal with three saves.
The Bulldogs’ next game is at home against Delta State University on Sep. 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
