JACKSON, Tenn. – On September 15th and 16th the Union University volleyball team competed in the Reddie – Tiger Invitational, going 0-4.
Union faced Alaska Anchorage (#RV) in their first game of the invitational. Union lost by a score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-14). Gracie Tacker did it all in the matchup versus the Seawolves. Tacker was very efficient on the attack, tallying four kills on five attempts (.800) while also leading the Lady Bulldogs in assist with 15. On the defensive side of the ball, Tacker managed a team best ten digs.
In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs took on host Henderson State University. Union fell to the Reddies 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-19). Reese Owens shined on the offensive side of the ball totaling 8 kills on 20 attempts (.250). Davey Slaughter was busy defensively leading Union in digs with 19.
On the final day of the Reddie-Tiger Invitational, Union had matches against Truman State and Ouachita Baptist. The Lady Bulldogs dropped both games on Saturday by scores of 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 24-26) and 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-15). Chloe Steen and Reese Owens combined for 35 kills and 30 digs on Saturday.
Reese Owens and Davey Slaughter received All-Tournament honors for their work on the floor this weekend. Reese Owens reached a career milestone during the tournament, she recorded her 500th career kill as a Lady Bulldog.
The Lady Bulldogs come home to the Fred DeLay Gymnasium to open up GSC play versus Christian Brothers Tuesday, September 19th. General admission will be free to everybody courtesy of First Bank.
