BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jonathan Xoinis, a redshirt junior at the University of Tennessee at Martin, was crowned as the Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Week today following an impressive showing at the Grover Page Classic.

A Chattanooga, Tenn. native, Xoinis receives this OVC weekly award for the second time in his career as he also picked up the honor on April 6, 2022. He becomes only the eighth player in program history to be named OVC Golfer of the Week twice in a career.

Xoinis was a major factor in a record-setting effort by the Skyhawks at the Grover Page Classic, held at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. UT Martin shot the best team score in the 20-year history of the event with an 841 (-24), winning the stacked 14-team tournament by eight strokes.

That wasn’t the only bit of history that was set at the event as Xoinis’ 208 (-8) was tied for the best score of any Skyhawk in the history of the tournament. He placed third in the field of 93 golfers with rounds of 68-70-70, setting a career-best score in Round 1 on Monday morning.

Overall, Xoinis led UT Martin in par-4 scoring (3.93, -2) and contributed 13 birdies plus an eagle on his 54-hole scorecard. It marked the best finish of his collegiate career as it was the second time he placed in the top-five and third top-10 performance as a Skyhawk.

Xoinis and UT Martin returns to action on Sept. 25-26 when it heads to the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, held at Gateway National in Madison, Ill.
