Union Men’s Soccer Falls to Mississippi College

On Sep. 24th, the Union University men’s soccer team lost 2-1 to Mississippi College. The Bulldogs are now 1-2 in GSC play and 3-3-1 overall. The Choctaws moved to 3-0-1 in GSC play and 7-1-1 overall.

Guilherme Santos scored Mississippi College’s first goal in the 16th minute. Alemu Mercer got the assist. Jayce Dotson scored the Choctaws’ second goal in the 44th minute. Kenny Nitzsche scored Union’s first and only goal in the 54th minute. Alexander Lapkalo got the assist.

Mississippi College led in shots 14-12, shots on goal 9-8, and corner kicks 7-2. The Bulldogs led in fouls 12-8, while each team had seven saves.

Ostian Bowen had the most shots for Union with three, two of which were on goal. Alpay AltuntasStan De Vries, and Lapkalo each had two shots. Both of Lapkalo’s shots were on goal. Botond Nemeth played all 90 minutes in goal with seven saves.

The Bulldogs’ next game is on the road against Christian Brothers University on Sep. 29th at 7:30 p.m.
