Union City’s 2023 golf season came to an immediate end Wednesday.
Both Tornado teams were eliminated in the Region 7A Tournament at the Tennessee River Golf Club in Decaturville, and the Twisters did not have an individual qualify for the state tourney.
The UC boys shot 362 to trail tournament champion Westview (330), Bolivar (335), Wayne County (350), McNairy Central (352), and McKenzie (355).
Reese Paschall posted the Tornadoes’ best score with an 87 (46-41). Brody Riley shot 88 (46-42), Gavin McGuire came in with an 89 (44-45), and Copeland Chism finished with a 98 (47-51).
The Union City girls got an 88 from Mimi Jenkins, including a 39 on the front nine. Addy Rice shot 107 to give the Twisters a 195 team total.
South Fulton’s Maddie Gray won the individual championship with a 79, while Decatur County Riverside claimed the team title with a 176.
