Union Women’s Soccer Falls to West Georgia

JACKSON, Tenn.—On Sep. 29th, the Union University women’s soccer team lost their game against the University of West Georgia 2-1. The Lady Bulldogs are now 3-4-1 overall and 2-2 in GSC play, while West Georgia is 3-2-3 overall and 3-1-1 in GSC play.

In the sixth minute of the game, Katherine Hagans scored West Georgia’s first goal, and in the 19th minute, Hagans scored their second goal, assisted by Kenna Kay. Union cut the deficit in half in the 75th minute when Madison Woolridge won a penalty and scored it. However, the Lady Bulldogs did not score again.

West Georgia led in shots 16-13, shots on goal 9-7, and corner kicks 3-2. Union led in saves 7-6 and fouls 9-3.

Fara Perez led Union with three shots. Ines GamaBethany Guinness, and Woolridge each had two shots. Both of Woolridge’s shots were on goal. Rylee Iorio played all 90 minutes in goal with seven saves.

The Lady Bulldogs’ next game is a road matchup with Valdosta State University on Oct. 1 at 12:00 p.m. central time.
