Union Women’s Soccer Falls to Montavello 2-0

JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University Women’s Soccer loses to Montevallo by a score of 2-0. Union’s record falls to 6-7-1 overall (5-5 GSC) and Montevallo improves to 7-4-3 overall (4-3-3 GSC).

Following tonight’s matchup, Union falls down to #9 in the GSC rankings. Montevallo jumped Union following their win against the Lady Bulldogs to #8 in the GSC rankings. In order to qualify for the Conference tournament, the Lady Bulldogs would have to finish within the top 8.

Montevallo got on the board early with a goal in the 7′. Union failed to find any offensive rhythm and suffered another blow in the 72′ from the Montevallo attack. Union was able to get 11 shots off but only 3 had a chance at finding the back of the net. Ines GamaAva Duval, and Lucia Revuelto tallied a shot on goal a piece. Rylee Iorio tallied 5 saves for the Lady Bulldog defense.

Union’s next match is scheduled for Sunday, October 22nd versus Auburn University in Montgomery. This match will be held at the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex and admission will be free to the public courtesy of FirstBank.
