HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Union University men’s cross-country team posted a seventh-place finish at the Gulf South Conference Championships with a time of 2:13:04.50. The event took place at John Hunt Park and featured 12 teams and 104 runners.

Head Coach Bailey Bell was proud of the team for their efforts.

“The men battled hard today,” Bell said. “Our guys left it all out there on the course. Although it was not the placement we were going for, I couldn’t be more proud of my men. They battled hard from the gun and never backed down or gave in. Our conference has become incredibly competitive. We will continue to work hard and raise our level.”

Union was led by Ryan Keeton in 28th with a time of 25:52. Micah Winn tied for 45th (26:30.52). Tristan Kelly finished 47th (26:34.80), Caleb Cook 48th (26:38.70), Benjamin Blackwood 65th (27:28.80), Jonathan Litscher 83rd (28:30.30), Riley Garrison 84th (28:38.70), Luke Winkleman 93rd (29:27.30), Steven Hirte 95th (30:04.70), and Kaydan Patterson 98th (30:46).

Bell expressed appreciation for the two seniors on the team.

“I want to give a special thanks to Steven Hirte and Micah Winn who raced in their final GSC championship,” Bell said. “They have grown into incredible runners and young men who follow Jesus. We would not be who we are without them.”

Up next for the Bulldogs is the NCAA D2 South Region Championships on Nov. 4th in Montevallo, Ala., at the UM Campus Cross Country Course.
