JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women’s basketball team is ranked No. 17 in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Preseason Poll. Union finished last season 27-4 and will open the 2023-24 season this Friday at Lubbock Christian University at 5 p.m.

Union’s opener versus Lubbock Christian renews an old NAIA rivalry. Union knocked off LCU in the 2006 NAIA National Title game in Jackson. LCU is also won an NCAA D2 National Title since moving from the NAIA. LCU is receiving votes in this year’s preseason poll. Union will also face Colorado-Pueblo on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Lubbock, Texas. Union will play eight road games, including three GSC games, in November before coming home, on December 8 versus Christian Brothers for its first home game.

Union won both the Gulf South Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles last season and was the No.  3 seed in the south region of the NCAA D2 National Championships, advancing to the region semifinals.
