
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Union University women’s basketball team posted a 108-70 win over the Colorado State University-Pueblo in the final game of the 2023 D2CCA Tipoff Classic hosted by Lubbock Christian University. Union, ranked No. 17 in the WBCA and D2CSC preseason polls, improved to 2-0 on the season. Colorado-Pueblo dropped to 0-2.
Shanique Lucas led the way for Union with 20 points and six rebounds for Union. Union jumped out early, dominating the first quarter 28-10. Union led 55-35 at the half. The Lady Bulldogs exploded for 31 third quarter points and added 22 points in the fourth to cruise to the win.
Union led by as many as 42 points, 108-66 late in the fourth quarter. Union’s biggest run was 15-0.
Four Lady Bulldogs joined Shanique Lucas in double figures including Emma Kallas with 17 points, Olivia Lee with 11 points, Courtney Zensen with 10 points and Shylee Morrison with 10 points. Twelve players scored for Union. Jazalyn Anousinh dished out 10 assists. Union 44 percent from the field, 36 percent (11-31) from 3-point range, and 78 percent (25-32) from the free throw line.
Davis-Llittle led CSU-Pueblo with 20 points and Love added 13. CSU-Pueblo shot 41 percent from the field, 25 percent (5-16) from behind the arc, and 79 percent (27-34) from the free throw line.
