
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University women’s basketball team has been ranked seventh in the first week of the D2CSC Women’s Basketball National Poll, moving up from their previous position of 17th.
The Lady Bulldogs went 4-0 in the time frame looked at by the voters, defeating Lubbock Christian University 87-78, Colorado State University Pueblo 108-70, the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon 118-62, and the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 95-51. Union’s 118 points in their contest against Puerto Rico-Bayamon was their second most since joining the NCAA (119 versus Fisk University in December 2019).
Shanique Lucas led the team with 58 points. She also had 13 steals, 15 rebounds, and eight assists. Other top scorers for Union included Lauren West with 46 points, Leah Cauble with 43 points, Macey Lee with 42 points, and Emma Kallas with 41 points. Jazalyn Anousinh led Union in assists and rebounds with 23 and 18, respectively.
