It was a historic day in Jackson, not only for athletics, but for the entire community. Wednesday afternoon, local leaders officially broke ground near Oman Arena, paving the way for the Hub City Central Stadium & Arena.
The new facility will include an 8-lane track, a turf football field, locker rooms, a jumbotron scoreboard, concessions, and a press box. The stadium will serve as the home field for the JCM Cougars, however, the facility will be open to all JMCSS athletic organizations.
Wednesday’s ceremony was well attended by members of the community, including local officials, JCM alumni, as well as the JCM cheerleaders and band members. Jackson Mayor Scott Conger and JMCSS Superintendent Dr. Marlon King both gave remarks, creating excitement for the bright future that awaits the Hub City Central.
The Sports 731 Network was able to speak directly with Dr. Ricky Catlett, Jason Bridgeman, and Greg Hammond of the Jackson Madison County School System. They each explained the project’s process of approval, the team that made everything possible, as well as how it was a big piece of the school system’s community vision.
