
JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University, ranked No. 4 in the D2 national polls, defeated the University of West Florida 100-60. Union’s record improved to 10-0 (5-0 GSC) while West Florida record dropped to 7-3 (4-2 GSC).
First Period: #4 Union 39, West Florida 11
Union’s starting five: Macey Lee, Courtney Zensen, Olivia Lee, Shanique Lucas, Jazalyn Anousinh
Union scored 39 points in the first period, tying Union’s record of total quarter points in program history (39 points versus Fisk University in 2019). The Lady Bulldogs shot 13-22 (.591 FG %) from the floor and 7-13 from beyond the arc (.538 3PT %) to help obtain their 28-point lead going into the second period. The Lady Bulldogs were also a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line in the period.
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Courtney Zensen and Lauren West offensively, both collecting nine points in the first ten minutes of action. Zensen and West both shot 3-5 from three-point range. Emma Kallas (8 points), Macey Lee (5 points), Jazalyn Anousinh(4 points), Brooke Hampel (2 points), and Shanique Lucas (2 points) all scored in the impressive offensive performance of the first period.
Mark Campbell‘s defense created seven turnovers in the first period. Union out-gained West Florida in rebounds (14-7), assists (6-2), and fast break points (8-0).
Second Period: #4 Union 68, West Florida 28
Going into intermission the Lady Bulldogs held a 40-point lead. After the second period, Union was 25-47 from the floor (.532 FG %) and 10-22 (45.5 3PT %) from three. The Lady Bulldogs led West Florida in rebounds (29-17), assists (10-4), and steals (11-5).
Union’s Macey Lee tacked on eight points in the period to lead Union with a total of 13 points. Brooke Hampel found success off the glass, leading her team in rebounds with five. Jazalyn Anousinh led all players in assists with four. Shylee Morrison led all players in steals at halftime with three.
Union’s first-half score of 68 is the fourth most points scored in a half in program history, the record is 77 points versus Fisk University in 2019. The Lady Bulldogs had four players in double-digit scoring in the first half.

The Lady Bulldogs maintained their 40-point halftime lead in the third period. Both teams scored 21 points in the period. Union led West Florida in field goal percentage (.364 FG %), three-point shooting percentage (.385 3PT %), and assists (6-3). West Florida out-rebounded Union (16-12) in the period.
Brooke Hampel reached double digits in points in the period to give Union their fifth player to score in double-digits for the game. Emma Kallas, who had been nearly perfect from the floor, led Union in points with 14 for the game. Hampel also continued to lead Union in rebounds with six total for the game.
Fourth Period: #4 Union 100, West Florida 60 (Final)
Union eclipsed 100 points for its sixth time in ten games, backed behind an impressive offensive attack that consisted of five players scoring in double-digits. Mark Campbell‘s squad shot 36-86 from the field (.419 FG %) and 18-51 from three-point range (.353 3PT%). Union led West Florida in rebounds (51-48), assists (19-9), bench points (47-17), fast break points (19-11), and turnovers (14-30).
Union led for the entirety of the game, with their largest lead stretching to 46 points in the second period.
Courtney Zensen led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with a season-high 19 points. Jazalyn Anousinh led all players in assists with eight. Brooke Hampel led Union with six rebounds. Shylee Morrison led the Lady Bulldogs in steals with four.
