Union Women’s Basketball Smashes Shorter University

JACKSON, Tenn. – On Jan. 11, the No. 5/6 Union University women’s basketball team defeated Shorter University 102-55. This is the eighth game in which the Lady Bulldogs have scored at least 100 points. With their win, Union improved to 16-1 overall on the season (10-1 GSC), while Shorter fell to 1-16 (0-11 GSC).

Bethany Dillard and Emma Kallas led the way for Union with 15 points each. The Lady Bulldogs dominated the first quarter 27-11 and led 61-26 at the half. Union added 27 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth to defeat the Hawks.

Besides Dillard and Kallas, three other Lady Bulldogs had double-digit points in the game, including Olivia Lee with 14, Macey Lee with 13, and Lauren West with 10. Jazalyn Anousinh led in assists with 7, and Shylee Morrison followed close behind with 6. Morrison also had the most rebounds for Union with 8.

The Lady Bulldogs shot 50 percent (38-76) from the field, 32.4 percent (12-37) from 3-point range, and 66.7 percent (14-21) from the free throw line.

Tiara Lewis led Shorter with 15 points. The Hawks shot 51.1 percent (23-45) from the field, 37.5 percent (3-8) from behind the arc, and 85.7 percent (6-7) from the free throw line.
