
JACKSON, Tenn. – On Jan. 13, the Union University men’s basketball team beat the Lee University Flames 72-68. After a 0-4 start in the conference for the Bulldogs, they have now gone on a 7-1 run to make their overall record 10-6 (7-5 GSC). Lee’s record is now 9-5 overall (7-5 GSC).
Freshman Jordan Pyke led Union in points and rebounds with 22 and 10, respectively. This was Pyke’s seventh game of the season in which he scored at least 20 points. The Bulldogs were down 38-23 at halftime but scored 49 points in the second half to push past the Flames.
Jeremiah Littlepage and Parker Applegate also had double-digit points in the contest with Littlepage collecting 18 and Applegate scoring 12. Littlepage also had nine rebounds and three assists, tied with Justin Debuck and Layne Sarver for the most assists for Union in the game. The Bulldogs shot 47.2 percent (25-53) from the field, 29.4 percent (5-17) from three-point range, and 89.5 percent (17-19) from the free throw line.
Beyuan Hendricks led Lee with 16 points and five assists. The Flames shot 42.6 percent (26-61) from the field, 30.8 percent (8-26) from behind the arc, and 66.7 percent (8-12) from the free throw line.
