Union’s Jordan Pyke Named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University’s Jordan Pyke has been named the Gulf South Conference Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for the week ending Jan. 14. This is Pyke’s fifth freshman of the week award this season and the team’s seventh with fellow freshmen Devaki Garr and Parker Applegate being named once each.

Pyke, a 6-foot-7 forward and guard from Greensboro, N.C., helped Union to a 3-0 record this week, starting all three games. On Jan. 8 against the University of Alabama at Huntsville, Pyke scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds, four assists, and one steal. On Jan. 11 at Shorter University, he collected 16 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one block. On Jan. 13 in a nailbiter with Lee University, Pyke rose to the occasion, scoring 22 points and shooting 63.6 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range, and 87.5 percent from the free throw line. He also had 10 rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal.
