
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced its 2024 Softball Preseason Teams on Thursday, as voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.
For the second year in a row, Lane had five players selected as preseason All-SIAC.
Sophomore pitcher Jersey Cabana led the way for Lane, being selected to the first team at both starting pitcher and relief pitcher. The San Dimas, Calif. native re-wrote the record books in her freshman campaign, setting new school records in wins (18), saves (6), ERA (2.08), strikeouts (195), and innings pitched (168.1). She threw a perfect game in her collegiate debut and registered six shutouts, two no-hitters, and four complete game one hitters.
Shanna McNair was named second team All-SIAC after a standout freshman year that saw the Florida native bat .442 and carry a team-high .520 on-base percentage. The outfielder also led the team in stolen bases (20) and sacrifices (11).
Junior pitcher Autumn Phillips was placed on the second team after winning 14 games in 2023. In 119.2 innings, she carried a 2.75 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. She had 80 strikeouts while only walking 16 batters.
Las Vegas native Ava Mearideth earned second team honors after playing in 44 games as a freshman, carrying a .465 on-base percentage with a .370 batting average. The third baseman slugged .563 with 13 extra base hits. Mearideth finished with 38 RBI and 23 runs scored.
Rounding out the selections was Kaylee Stinnett at designated player. As a sophomore, Stinnett played in 46 games and finished with a .455 batting average. She had 21 extra base hits and 54 RBI. She scored 23 runs and slugged .706 while carrying a .972 fielding percentage in 142 chances.
