COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Lane Women’s Tennis team opened the 2024 season with a victory on Wednesday, defeating Mississippi University for Women, 6-3.
The Dragons started strong, taking two out of three doubles matches. Camila Barragan and Jada Fields partnered and took their match, 8-5 while the team of Patricia Harrell and Sydeny Jackson dominated in an 8-1 set victory.
Moving on to singles, Barragan won at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0) while Jackson won at No. 2 (6-0, 6-2). Tiahvia Tucker earned a win at No. 4 (6-3, 6-2) and Fields rounded out the victory at No. 6 (7-6, 6-4).
The Dragons will take part in the first SIAC Round Up this weekend in Mobile, Ala. Lane opens play on Thursday with matches against Fort Valley State and Clark Atlanta.
