Union Men’s Basketball Falls to Valdosta State In Final Game of Road Trip

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University men’s basketball team drops the final game of their road trip to Valdosta State University by a score of 86-79.

The Bulldog’s record drops to 11-11 overall (8-10 GSC) while the Blazer’s record improves to 9-14 overall (6-13 GSC).

Union struggled shooting in the second half, shooting just 38.24% from the floor including 16.67% from beyond the arc. Valdosta State shot 48.48% in the second half including 25% from three-point range.

Union outscored the Blazers in the first half, 41-38. Before Valdosta State outscored Union by 10 in the second half. Valdosta State was led by Tate Latrell and Mike Isler offensively. Latrell and Isler both scored 25 points for the Blazers in their win Saturday evening.

Union was led offensively by Jordan Pyke, who scored 21 points off of 8-19 shooting. Pyke also led Union in assists with three. Ahmad Johnson scored 19 points for the Bulldogs off of 6-19 shooting. Parker Applegate led Union in rebounds with 11.

Union returns home to face Auburn University in Montgomery on February 15, the game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
