UT Martin Track Teams Set Numerous PRs At Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field teams were back in action for the second straight week and were able to set numerous personal bests against some of the best programs in the country at the Music City Challenge.

 

The Skyhawks competed against the likes of Auburn, Cincinnati, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, UCF, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Xavier.

 

Meet Highlights

–        Rita Eimer continued to be a PR machine with her third of the season in the one mile at 5:19.19.

–        On Friday, Maluke Cluver snapped the school record in the 600m crossing the finish line at 1:22.67.

–        For the second time this season Lisha McKenzie broke her own school record in the 60m hurdles, this time with a mark of 8.89. That time was also good enough for a 16th place finish.

–        Holly Henderson crushed her school record in the triple jump (ninth, 11.47m) and finished sixth with a PR in the long jump (5.52m).

–        Luke Johnson continued to be solid for UT Martin, recording a PR in the 3k of 8:27.81.

–        The team of Khalid WhiteChadwick StewartJohn Collin Askew and Samir Smith snapped the school record in the 4×400 with a time of 3:18.91.

–        In the 800m, Maggie Roy notched a new PR of 2:15.01 which was good enough for a 20th place finish.

–        Junior Brady Millikin established a PR in the one mile of 4:15.54 by close to three seconds.

–        The freshman Angus Monro had a field day with PRs in both the 3k (8:38.30) and one mile (4:16.11).

–        Hudson Hall claimed another PR this season with a 1:56.57 in the 800m.
UT Martin will get one more tune up before the OVC Indoor Championships when it competes in the Redhawks Open on Saturday, February 17th in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
