
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Lane College softball team swept a pair of doubleheaders this week against Rust College and Bethel University to move to 7-1 on the season.
Jersey Cabana picked up two of the wins in the circle for the Dragons, taking game one over Rust on Tuesday, followed by a game one victory over Bethel on Friday.
Cabana (4-0) pitched 8.0 innings and struck out nine batters while allowing just two earned runs.
Autumn Phillips (1-1) and Joslyn Soinila (1-0) picked up the other two wins for Lane, with Phillips (1) picking up a save in game one over Bethel.
Freshman Aspyn Beattie led the way at the plate, going 7-for-12 (.583) and driving in six runs while stealing seven bases.
San Diego, Calif., native Jayden McCarty finished 5-for-8 (.625) with three RBI and two stolen bases.
Lane will travel to Memphis on Friday, February 16th, to play a doubleheader with Rhodes College. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
