
JACKSON, Tenn. – Elijah Ramsey of the Union University baseball team has been awarded Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week. Ramsey helped Union to a 4-0 record on the week, featuring a win over Lane College and three wins over Washburn University.
Ramsey, a 6-foot-4 outfielder out of Millington, Tenn., batted .455 this week (5-11) for the Bulldogs. Ramsey collected one extra-base hit, three runs batted in, and scored a run during the four-game stretch. Ramsey most notable performance came in game one of the Saturday doubleheader (2/9/23) versus Washburn. The promising Freshman went 3-4 with three runs batted in to help the Bulldogs to a 9-8 comeback victory. Ramsey was perfect in the field with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Up next for Ramsey and the Bulldogs is a road trip to Arkadelphia for a mid-week matchup with Henderson State University. Union will then open up GSC play this weekend versus the University of West Alabama here in Jackson. Visit uuathletics.com for scheduling information.
