
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After dropping game one of the twinbill against Rhodes College, the Lane softball team bounced back to take game two, 11-6.
After a scoreless first inning, Jullianna Saint Hilaire got the scoring started with a RBI walk that plated Jayden McCarty. Aspyn Beattie followed that with a RBI groundout that scored Ariana Battle to give Lane a 2-0 lead.
The Lynx would score two of their own in the home half of the second off a two-run home run from Emily Caplinger.
The Dragons re-captured the lead quickly as Kaylee Stinnett led off the top of the third with a solo home run. Beattie then broke the game open with a three run home run in the fourth, followed by a two RBI double from Battle later that inning.
Stinnett rounded out the scoring for Lane with a two RBI double off the wall in the top of the seventh.
Jersey Cabana (5-0) went the distance for the Dragons, pitching 7.0 innings and striking out four batters.
Stinnett was 4-for-5 with three RBI while Beattie finished with a game-high four RBI. Battle was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Lane will be at home on Tuesday, February 20th, when they host Christian Brothers University at the West Tennessee Sportsplex. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
