BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference announced University of Tennessee at Martin guard/forward Jacob Crews as its Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week today.

Crews has now won OVC Player of the Week accolades twice, also winning that award on Nov. 20. This also marks the third time that the 6-8, 210-pounder has been named OVC Newcomer of the Week – trailing only Lester Hudson (five times in 2007-08), Parker Stewart (five times in 2019-20), KJ Simon (five times in 2021-22) and Brian Foster (four times in 2000-01) for the most in school history.

As a program, the Skyhawks have now earned five OVC Player of the Week and four OVC Newcomer of the Week accolades in 2023-24.

Hailing from Hilliard, Fla., Crews averaged 30.5 points per outing on a shooting slash line of 50 percent overall (18-of-36)/47.6 percent (10-for-21) from three-point range/88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the free throw line. He also averaged 7.0 rebounds per game to help UT Martin defeat Southern Indiana and Morehead State, moving a game within the latter for first place in the OVC standings.

Crews began his week with a game-high 32 points in the 77-68 triumph over the Screaming Eagles. He poured in 28 points with each of his career-best six 3-pointers in the second half, helping the Skyhawks overcome a one-point halftime deficit.

Two days later against the OVC-leading Eagles, Crews compiled 29 points – including a driving dunk, mid-range floater and pullup trey over a 2:25 span that broke a tie and gave UT Martin a lead with each bucket.

On the season, Crews ranks second in the OVC in three-point field goals made (2.7 per game), third in three-point field goal percentage (.413), third in field goal percentage (.487), fourth in scoring (18.3 points per outing) and sixth in rebounding (8.0 per contest). He has upped his averages to 19.1 points per game, 2.9 three-point field goals made per game and a .432 shooting clip from three-point land against league competition.

The Skyhawks play their final two road games of the regular season this week, traveling to Lindenwood on Thursday, Feb. 22 before heading to Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Feb. 24.
