JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University’s Jordan Pyke has been named the Gulf South Conference Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for the week ending Feb. 18. This is Pyke’s sixth freshman of the week honor this season and ninth for the Bulldogs with Devaki Garr receiving two and Parker Applegate collecting one.
Pyke, a 6-foot-7 forward and guard from Greensboro, N.C., started both games this week for Union, helping the team to a 1-1 finish. On Feb. 15 against Auburn University Montgomery, he had 12 points, three assists, and one rebound. On Feb. 17 against the University of Montevallo, Pyke collected 15 points, shooting 41.7 percent (5-12) from the field and 60 percent (3-5) from three-point range. He also had eight assists and 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs won 81-66.
