BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the third time this season, University of Tennessee at Martin sophomore Dax Isbell has been named Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week.

Isbell, who also captured this award on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5, is just the fourth Skyhawk to win OVC Golfer of the Week honors at least three times in a single season (joining Jack Story, Hunter Richardson and Brendon Caballero). Overall, UT Martin has now claimed four OVC Golfers of the Week out of 10 possible opportunities in 2023-24.

Competing in the spring-opening WGV Collegiate held at King & Bear Golf Course in St. Augustine, Fla., Isbell helped the Skyhawks top the leaderboard after Round 1 before placing fifth out of 18 teams. The Skyhawks ranked first out of the five OVC schools in the field and earned their fifth straight top-five tournament finish during the 2023-24 campaign.

Isbell picked up where he left off during the fall semester, clinching his fourth top-10 finish of the season. His overall score of 213 (-3) included rounds of 67-77-69, which placed him seventh in the 108-man individual standings. He ranked fourth in the tournament with 14 birdies and also managed team-best averages in par-4 scoring (4.03, +1) and par-5 scoring (4.67, -4).

The Cumming, Ga. native now has eight scores in the 60’s this year and 11 rounds of par or better. Isbell sports a 70.7 scoring average, which is only 0.6 strokes off SIUE’s TJ Baker for the individual lead in the OVC.

UT Martin returns to the links on Monday, Feb. 26 when it takes part in the Gulf Coast Collegiate held at English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans, La.
