Union Men’s Basketball Teams Falls to West Alabama

JACKSON, Tenn. – On Feb. 24, the Union University men’s basketball team fell to the University of West Alabama 87-66. The Bulldogs are now 12-14 overall (9-13), while the Tigers improve to 17-9 overall (14-8 GSC).

Four Union players scored double-digit points in the game, including Ahmad Johnson with 16, Devaki Garr and Jordan Pyke with 13 a piece, and Jeremiah Littlepage with 11. The Bulldogs were only down 33-26 at halftime but were outscored 54-40 in the second half as West Alabama ended up winning by 21.

Parker ApplegateJustin Debuck, and Garr each had two assists, and Pyke led in rebounds with seven. Union shot 43.6 percent (24-55) from the field, 25 percent (5-20) from three-point range, and 65 percent (13-20) from the free throw line.

Terry Durham led West Alabama with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Tigers shot 40.9 percent (27-66) from the field, 31 percent (9-29) from three-point range, and 85.7 percent (24-28) from the free throw line.

Up next, the Bulldogs return home for their final set of regular season games, the first of which will be on Feb. 29 against Lee University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
