ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Competing in an official capacity for the first time, the University of Tennessee at Martin STUNT team wrapped up its program debut with a win over Central Arkansas at the Simon Athletic Center on the campus of Maryville University.

The Skyhawks played two games on their first day of competition, falling 24-0 to NCAA Division II nationally ranked powerhouse this morning before bouncing back strong with a 20-6 triumph over fellow Division I and Mid-America West conference rival Central Arkansas in the afternoon.

UT Martin held a 4-1 edge after the first quarter (partner stunts) against Central Arkansas and expanded that lead to 7-3 at the halftime break, outscoring the Bears 3-2 in the second quarter (pyramids and tosses).

The Skyhawks led by a 10-3 margin after tacking on three more points in the third quarter (jumps and tumbling). The UT Martin victory was then capped off by a dominant effort in the fourth and final quarter (team routine) – putting up 10 points on the scoreboard to Central Arkansas’ three.

A home tournament is next up as the Skyhawks host a six-team event on Saturday, March 9 through Sunday, March 10. A total of 12 games will take place inside the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center as UT Martin takes part in its first official home games.
