
JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University’s Shanique Lucas and Macey Lee have been named First Team All-GSC for the 2023-24 season.
Lucas, a 5-foot-8 graduate student guard from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, has been a key part of Union basketball for the last five years. This season has been no different as she has started all 30 games for the Lady Bulldogs, averaging 21.5 minutes per game and helping them to a GSC regular season second-place finish and another GSC Tournament berth. Lucas scored 361 points in the regular season, averaging 12 points per game, shooting 49.6 percent from the field, and 30.7 percent from three-point range. She also collected 116 rebounds, 68 assists, six blocks, and a career-high 90 steals. Lucas was named GSC Player of the Week on Feb. 20.
Lee, a 6-foot junior forward and guard from Jackson, Tenn., has been a significant contributor in her first season at Union after transferring from Samford University, helping the team to a GSC regular season second-place finish and another GSC Tournament berth. Lee has played in all 30 games for Union this season, starting in 28 matchups and averaging 19.3 minutes per game. She scored 376 points in the regular season for an average of 12.5 points per game. She shot 44.4 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from three-point range. Lee also collected 126 rebounds for an average of 4.2 per game and recorded 39 assists, seven blocks, and 32 steals. She was named GSC Player of the Week on Nov. 28, 2023.
Up next, Lucas, Lee, and the Lady Bulldogs will take on Delta State University at home in the GSC Quarterfinals. Tipoff is scheduled for Mar. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
