
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Union University baseball team traveled to Christian Brothers for a three-game series with Christian Brothers University. The Bulldogs split with CBU after losing game one 9-8 and winning game two 4-3. Union and CBU both sit at a 9-12 overall and 4-7 in the Gulf South Conference.
In game one, Sam Poindexter took the mound for the Bulldogs. Poindexter allowed six earned runs on 12 hits and an error. The senior left-handed pitcher received a no-decision after CBU erased a three-run lead going into the seventh inning. Ethan Orwig (2-2) received the loss for the Bulldogs.
The Union offense scored eight runs on 10 hits and an error. Matthew Autry and Elijah Ramsey both recorded extra-base hits for the Bulldogs in the high-scoring affair. Autry reached once on a double and Ramsey twice on a triple and single. Grant Ross and Alec Hardy both homered in the game, combining for five of the eight runs batted in.
In game two of the series in Memphis, Eli Snelson picked up the win for the Bulldogs. Snelson (2-3), who received the win, gave up three runs on seven hits and an error in his complete game performance. Snelson struck out four batters and only surrendered one walk in his seven innings on the mound for Union. Autry and Ramsey repeated their extra-base hit success from the first game. Autry doubled and Ramsey tripled in back-to-back games. Canyon Pace homered for the Bulldogs in the sixth inning. Dyllon Barrett singled later in the inning to score the winning run for the Bulldogs.
