UT Martin STUNT Posts A Day 2 Split To Conclude Homestand

MARTIN, Tenn. – Another victory was tacked on to the University of Tennessee at Martin’s STUNT ledger today as the Skyhawks defeated Southern Arkansas for the second consecutive day before narrowly falling to Missouri Baptist this afternoon.

UT Martin downed Southern Arkansas by a 14-0 margin for the second time in as many days. A little over five hours later, the Skyhawks returned to action an nearly collected a sweep of the day before dropping a tight 14-13 decision to Missouri Baptist.

In the Southern Arkansas game, UT Martin jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter featuring partner stunts. The Skyhawks added two more points in the pyramids and tosses second quarter before taking an 8-0 advantage through three quarters following jumps and tumbling. UT Martin then piled up six points in the fourth quarter (team routine) on the way to a dominant victory.

Emily Hartley tallied a team-best 14 points for the Skyhawks while Violet Gillilan (11 points), Kaity Mistretta (11) and Alexa Stock (10) also earned double-digit point totals for UT Martin.

The Skyhawks made a late push against Missouri Baptist but ultimately came up just short. UT Martin trailed 3-2 after the first quarter featuring partner stunts before Missouri Baptist extended its halftime lead to 6-3 following the second quarter pyramids and tosses. The Skyhawks were down by a 9-5 margin after the jumps and tumbling third quarter but made a valiant comeback effort in the team routine fourth quarter. UT Martin dialed up eight points in the last quarter alone but unfortunately Missouri Baptist ended just one point better on overall score.

Leading the way for the Skyhawks against Missouri Baptist was Jade Reed, who accumulated 13 points. UT Martin also received valuable efforts out of Hartley (11 points), Ashley Myles (11) and Stock (10).

The 2024 Skyhawk STUNT regular season wraps up next weekend when UT Martin travels to Nashville, Tenn. for four games. The Skyhawks will be matched up against California Baptist and Concordia Irvine on Friday, March 15 before squaring off against Central Arkansas and Maryville on Saturday, March 16.
