
HOOVER, Ala. – Aspyn Beattie drove in five runs as Lane College won two more games at the SIAC Crossover on Wednesday.
With the bases loaded and a two run lead in the sixth inning of game one, the Las Vegas native launched a grand slam over the centerfield wall to break the game open. Beattie ended the day with five RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
Jersey Cabana (8-2) turned in another magnificent performance in the victory over Fort Valley State. Cabana went the distance, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out five batters.
Game two saw the Dragons pick up a run rule win over Clark Atlanta, 11-3.
Ava Mearideth led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Takya Garrett and Shawna McNair also each had two RBI while McNair added two stolen bases.
Joslyn Soinila (2-0) picked up the win in game two, throwing 4.0 innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
Lane closes out the Crossover on Thursday with games against Allen, Savannah State, and Edward Waters.
