UT Martin STUNT Team Falls In First Two Matches Of Nashville Road Trip

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin STUNT team ran into a pair of tough opponents today as the Skyhawks fell 24-0 to national powerhouse California Baptist before dropping a close 17-10 decision to Concordia Irvine.

UT Martin competed throughout in the first matchup of the day but California Baptist improved to 70-0 all-time. The Skyhawks trailed 4-0 after the first quarter (partner stunts) before the Lancers added four points in the pyramid and tosses second quarter, four points in the jumps and tumbling third quarter and a dozen points in the team routine fourth quarter.

Freshman Alexa Stock led the way for UT Martin against California Baptist, playing in 19 total rounds.

The Skyhawks were in the hunt for a split but narrowly fell in the nightcap. UT Martin held a 3-2 lead through the opening partner stunts quarter and barely trailed (6-5) through the second quarter of pyramids and tosses. Concordia Irvine tallied a 4-0 advantage in the third quarter (jumps and tumbling) before outscoring the Skyhawks by a slim 7-5 margin in the fourth quarter (team routine).

Violet Gillilan and Emily Hartley were responsible for the highest point tallies of any UT Martin representative against the Eagles.

The Skyhawks conclude the 2024 regular season tomorrow when they square off against Central Arkansas (1:20 p.m.) and Maryville (7:10 p.m.) on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University.
