
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team concluded the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate on a high note as the Skyhawks produced a pair of top-20 participants in the individual standings.
After shooting a 292 (+8) during Monday’s first round, UT Martin posted a 287 (+3) while completing Round 2 and a 285 (+1) in today’s final round. The Skyhawks closed out the 54-hole tournament with an overall score of 864 (+12).
Dax Isbell earned his fifth top-10 finish of the 2023-24 campaign as his 210 (-3) ranked 10th out of 82 participants. The sophomore from Cumming, Ga. dropped in six birdies in Round 2 on the way to a 67 (-4) before adding two more red scores during an even-par 71 in Round 3.
Competing as an individual, Jonathan Xoinis tapped in a pair of birdies as part of an even-par 71 in Round 2. He followed that with a 70 in the final round that included five birdies on the scorecard. Overall, the redshirt junior out of Chattanooga, Tenn. came away with his third top-20 finish of the season and seventh of his collegiate career with a 214 (+1).
Following Isbell’s 67 in Round 2 was a pair of ties amongst the UT Martin lineup. Luke Caldwell (four birdies) and Grant Phillips (two birdies) each shot a 72 while Ethan Ray (birdie plus the Skyhawks’ lone eagle of the tournament) and Jacob Uehlein (two birdies) were both responsible for a 76.
The third round included Uehlein producing a pair of birdies on the way to a team-best 70 (-1). Ray secured three birdies to equal Isbell with an even-par 71 while Phillips’ 73 (five birdies) was the final team tally. Caldwell accounted for one birdie while tallying a 74 in the last round.
UT Martin has the rest of March off before hosting the third annual Carpenter/Chaney Classic in conjunction with Morehead State. This year’s event will take place on Monday, April 1 through Tuesday, April 2 at the Country Club of Paducah in Paducah, Ky.
