Union Baseball Earns Hard Fought Win Over Mississippi College

JACKSON, Tenn. – Union wins midweek matchup over Mississippi College by a final score of 10-9. Sam Galbraith (1-0) picked up the first win of his career in the victory. Union’s overall record improved to 12-14 (6-9 GSC) following the victory.

Union scored 10 runs on 12 hits and an error. The Bulldogs collected three extra-base hits, including two homers off the bat of Carson Chavies and Mitch Sisk. Chavies’ homer inched its way out of the park, bouncing off the top of the wall for his first career homer. Chavies’ homer gave Union a 7-6 lead in the fifth inning. Sisk then clobbered his fourth homer of the season, sending a ball against the wind over the left field wall to give Union a 9-7 lead. Dyllon Barrett then hit into a fielder’s choice to score Will Allen Smith, which would end up being the winning run.

Scotty Wyatt started on the mound for the Bulldogs. Wyatt tossed three innings, giving up three runs on five hits. Brody MannAlex Johnson, Galbraith, Cole SmithEthan Orwig, and Jamal Allen completed the final six innings. Allen picked up his third save of the season in the effort.
