UT Martin Track Team Earns Multiple Podiums At Margaret Simmons Invitational

MURRAY, Ky.– The University Tennessee at Martin track and field teams set several personal records while capturing numerous podium finishes at the Margaret Simmons Invitational.

 

10 new personal records were set with three podium finishes as the Skyhawks competed at the host site of former Ohio Valley Conference school Murray State.

 

Meet Highlights

  • In the 1500 meter, Rita Eimer landed a new PR along with a third place finish earning a time of 4:45.96.
  • In the same event as Eimer, Maggie Roy finished just behind her teammate in fourth place crossing the finish line at a time of 4:46.73.
  • Freshman Angus Monro set a new PR in the 1500 as the Auckland, New Zealand native garnered a time of 4:01.76 which was good enough for sixth place.
  • Khalid White had a big day with a podium finish in the 100 meter (third, 10.77) and a PR in the 200 meter (fourth, 21.85).
  • Janay Chapman had a top five finish in both the 100m (fifth, 12.15) and the 200m (fifth, 24.85).
  • Milan, Tenn. native Andy Westbrooks finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.27 meters.

UT Martin will send athletes to both the Wash U Distance Carnival (March 29) and the Joey Haines Invitational (March 29-30) next week.
