
ST. LOUIS, Mo./CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.– The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field teams saw several quality performances at both the Wash U Distance Carnival and the Joey Haines Invitational.
Wash U Distance Carnival Highlights:
- Sam Shuman set the school record in the steeplechase while also snaring a new PR with a time of 9:03.14.
- Maggie Roy nabbed a personal record in the 5k recording a time of 18:06.34.
- In 2:12.93, Rita Eimer secured a PR in the 800 meter race which gave her PR’s in back-to-back meets.
- Tori Holliday landed a PR in the 5k competition, garnering a time of 18:36.39.
- Luke Johnson nearly set a PR in the 5k, earning a mark of 14:57.70.
Joey Haines Invitational Highlights:
- Lisha McKenzie claimed the school record and PR’d in the 100m hurdles. She earned a spot on the podium in second place with her performance (14.20 seconds). The junior also achieved personal bests in the long jump (5.08 meters) and javelin throw (20.85 meters).
- Andy Westbrooks finished fifth in the high jump (1.95 meters) along with a PR in the long jump (6.60m, 8th) and javelin throw (39.55m, 10th).
- Sanaa Smith finished in the top-10 for the 400m, clocking a time of 59.28.
- Braxton Sharp finished the 100m in 11.19 seconds to achieve a new PR in the 100m.
UT Martin will be traveling next week (Apr. 5-6) to the Joe Walker Invite in Oxford, Miss.
