PADUCAH, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf squad concluded the third annual Carpenter/Chaney Classic today, finishing fourth in the event after a 4-2 setback to Lindenwood at the Country Club of Paducah.

Jonathan Xoinis remained perfect in the two-day event, dialing up a 3&2 victory today. That win improved the redshirt junior from Chattanooga, Tenn. to an unblemished 3-0 in head-to-head action in the tournament.

Ethan Ray was responsible for the Skyhawks’ other victory today, winning 3&2 for his second win of the event.

Dax Isbell’s match came down to the final hole before he fell 1Up. Luke Caldwell was also involved in a tight decision before falling 2&1. Grant Phillips (lost 3&2) and Jacob Uehlein (lost 5&3) also represented UT Martin in the lineup today.

For the event, Ray and Isbell each earned a 2-1 record while Uehlein and Phillips tacked on one win apiece.

“It’s certainly not the result we wanted but we gained some valuable experience in a match play format before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships,” Skyhawk head coach Austin Swafford said. “I’m extremely proud of Jonathan going 3-0 on the week. I’d also like to thank the Country Club of Paducah – they were incredible hosts and the golf course was in great shape.”

UT Martin closes out the regular season on April 15-16 when it travels to Bridgeport, W.Va. for the Mountaineer Invitational.
