UT Martin Beach Volleyball Drops Final Game Of Palmetto Invitational

COLUMBIA, SC – The University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball team ran into a tough UNC Wilmington squad today, narrowly falling 3-2 to the Sun Belt Conference powerhouse.

The Skyhawks saw their No. 2 and No. 5 pairings earn victories today against a Seahawks team that is 16-8 overall. Sydney Eckhardt/Dylan Mott (No. 2) and Kayla Carrell/Reagan McGee (No. 5) each pieced together their team-high 12th wins of the season to guide UT Martin, who is now 10-12 overall.

Haeleigh Paulino/Kristin Phillips teamed up at No. 4 today but fell 21-7, 21-15. Carrell/McGee knotted the score at 1-all after generating a 19-21, 21-14, 15-10 triumph. Moments later, Eckhardt/Mott delivered a 21-19, 21-17 victory but UNC Wilmington was able to take the other two decisions in the last wave. Ryan Rednour/Addy Vaughn fell 21-13, 21-14 at No. 3 while the Skyhawks’ No. 1 pair of Olivia O’Keefe/Jenna Vallée were defeated by scores of 21-8, 21-11.

UT Martin will make a short trek to Clarksville, Tenn. for a pair of midweek matches on Wednesday, April 10. The Skyhawks will take on Jacksonville State in a neutral-site match at 1 p.m. before colliding against Austin Peay at 3 p.m.
