MARTIN, Tenn.– After a tremendous week at the plate, University of Tennessee at Martin baseball standout Blaze Bell was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week.

Bell joins his teammates Mac Danford (Player of the Week on March 4) and Tristan Walton (Pitcher of the Week on April 1) on the awards list in 2024. This marks the first time at least one Skyhawk pitcher and two players have garnered weekly accolades since 2009 (Wes Patterson, Coty Green and Mark Hartsfield).

The redshirt junior hit .524 (11-for-21), notching three hits in three of his five games played while smashing three home runs and driving in six runs. Those three longballs helped establish a new career-high in homers for the Murfreesboro, Tenn. native. Bell recorded an on-base percentage of .545 and slugged to the tune of 1.048.

In a two-game midweek series at Missouri, Bell went 4-for-7 with a solo jack in Game 1 to pair with two RBI’s and a stolen base. Against league foe SIUE, the designated hitter recorded seven hits in 14 appearances at the plate while going deep twice, knocking two doubles and plating four runs.

Bell and the Skyhawks will get set for a weekend series against OVC leader Little Rock. All games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live stats available.
