MARTIN, Tenn. – A two-day, five-team tournament will take place at the Skyhawk Beach Volleyball Facility as the University of Tennessee at Martin hosts an Ohio Valley Conference Weekend on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20.
A total of 12 matches will be played on campus as the Skyhawks will take on Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m. and Morehead State at 6 p.m. on Friday before squaring off against Tennessee Tech at noon and Lindenwood at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Both of UT Martin’s matches on Day 2 of the tournament will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks will recognize three players in conjunction with Senior Night festivities prior to the Lindenwood match on Saturday. Kayla Carrell, Haeleigh Paulino and Addy Vaughn will be recognized for their career contributions as that trio has helped UT Martin sweep the OVC regular season and tournament championships each of the last two seasons. Those three currently rank No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 in program history in all-time individual victories, combining for 207 triumphs and a remarkable 82-9 record (.901 winning percentage) in OVC play over their careers.
This tournament will serve as the final tuneup of the regular season as the 2024 OVC Championship looms the following weekend. This year’s event is hosted by Morehead State and will take place from Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27. Currently, the Skyhawks and Chattanooga are tied for first place in the league standings at 5-1 each and are followed by Lindenwood (4-2), Tennessee Tech (2-4), Morehead State (2-4) and Eastern Illinois (0-6).
Admission is free for the entire tournament as there are six games per day starting at 8 a.m. The full schedule for the event can be found below.
