Union Softball’s Lainey Baker and Macey Neal Earn GSC Postseason Honors

JACKSON, Tenn. – Union University softball’s Lainey Baker has been named First Team All-GSC, and Macey Neal earns Second Team All-GSC honors.

Baker, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Cartersville, Ga., was a key part of Union’s pitching staff this season. She was named TSWA Pitcher of the Week twice and GSC Pitcher of the week once. She finished the year with an 8-8 record, appearing in 20 games and starting 15. Baker had a 2.41 ERA, 11 complete games, 5 shutouts, 107.1 innings pitched, 152 strikeouts, only 25 walks, and a .204 batting average against.

Neal, a 5-foot-5 senior from Dyer, Tenn., helped Union make their third straight GSC Championships appearance. She was named Preseason All-GSC and had career highs in several categories, including doubles with 13, RBIs with 58, walks with 16, and stolen bases with nine. Neal played and started all 51 games for Union this season. She also had a .398 AVG, 46 runs scored, 68 hits, three triples, 11 homeruns, a .702 SLG%, and a .450 OB%.
